Our mini adventure
Firstly we got into the mini convertible and opened the roof! Then we drove to the eurotunnel and checked in it took about two hours to get to the eurotunnel and then we stayed on the train for half an hour and then we were in France. From Calais we drove to La Maison de Rhodes a hotel in Troyes. It was really pretty there and we went to see the cathedral which was really, really big. After that we walked a bit further and saw a big hospice. We walked a bit further around and we came back then we got changed and went to supper in the hotel.
The next day we drove down to Beaune for lunch which was really nice I had chicken and pasta and so did Archie. From there we drove to Hotel Grand Paradiso which was in the Alps, unluckily there was a roadblock in the valley just near our hotel but then they made us go the long way up into the mountains then when we got really near the top of the mountain there was a big queue that took about two hours to get through. Eventually we got to the top of the mountain and went down and on the other side of the mountain there was a queue about three miles long cars coming the other way! Eventually we got to the hotel and went to bed and had a real good sleep.
The next day we woke up really early and had an amazing breakfast of coco pops mega-munchers and croissant. Then we had a quite long drive over the Alps and it got really cold it was also quite fun because when I looked down it was a very long way down. On the mountain we saw a signpost saying 2188m and here is a picture of it.
Later we arrived in Italy which was really nice and hot we drove for a bit and got to one of my favourite places SIRMIONE which was on lake Garda. It was so fun and the swimming pool was great. There was an old town which we went to for supper and it had really nice meals I had veal milanese, Archie had cingale and Dad and Mum had truffle risotto and steak. It was a really nice hotel and we stayed there for two nights. My favourite part of Sirmione was swimming in the swimming pool.
The next day we went to Verona and had an amazing lunch after that lunch we had a triple scoop ice cream which was delicious, the three flavours I had were chocolate, vanilla and toffee. Then from there we drove to our destination, Venice. Venice was very, very pretty and I really liked their ice cream. In Venice we did lots of different things after we arrived we went to our hotel and abandoned our car in a car park. In the hotel we had a little read and then we went out on the Grand Canal on a bus boat. That night when we arrived at our stop we got off and walked around to a restaurant that Mum and Dad had been to before on their 10th anniversary this is what I had:
The next day we went on a gondola ride which was really, really, really fun. I took loads of pictures and I can show you a few. That night I had pasta with pesto and salmon which was really tasty but the salmon had loads of bones.
Next day we had to do probably our biggest drive but luckily not our longest it was all the way through Switzerland and back to the edge of France in Alsace. It was really beautiful and it had grandpa's favourite wine called Bott(y) Gell! It was really nice there and we saw a little pond which had big gold fish and big silver fish and we said to Arcbie those look like your two old ones maybe we can take them home and pretend they have grown a lot not died which they did.
The next day we did our second last drive to a place called Cambrai where loads of people died in the first World War. When we were there went to our chambre d'hote it was probably the most beautiful place in the whole town. After we arrived we had a little walk around the town and we saw a church and a cathedral. Then we walked back to the hotel and had supper there which Dad was thought was bad and I thought was ok. The next day we got in the car and drove to a big underground museum of the World War One in Albert I thought it was a good museum about a horrible war. One of the rooms in it was a bit scary because it sounded as if it was bullets coming but it was just flashing lights and speakers so the real thing must have been frightening. After that we drove to loads of cemetries which people had died in and it was really awful we also saw the big memorial of all the lost soldiers of the World War One with so many names on it.
Then we had one more drive back to the eurotunnel and back to London. Goodbye.
